A Certain Ratio

Formed in 1978, A Certain Ratio were soon signed to Factory Records by Tony Wilson. They became recognised as creators of “punk funk” in the early years of their career. They had huge success on both sides of the Altlantic, with their single “Shack Up”,even supporting Madonna as part of the ultra-trendy NYC club scene. From a Hoochie Coochie perspective they changed our owner’s interest in post-punk music to a love of Funk, Soul, Jazz & Latin. The band were hugely influenced by James Brown, Tower Of Power, Kraftwerk , Brian Eno, Airto Moriera & others, becoming a real “cult” band throughout the 80’s & 90’s.

Over their career the band have released 10 albums & been a huge influence on many of their peers, including Talking Heads, Happy Mondays, LCD Soundsystem, to name a few. Now in Feb 2018, the famous Mute Records are re-releasing & re-packing many of their works for a new generation to enjoy, with re-mixes, rare release & box sets etc over the next two years.

The band rarely play live & this has enhanced their somewhat mystical, cult-like status. We are delighted to entice them out for a one time gig at Hoochie Coochie.

Tickets for this event are £16, no booking fees, & £1 of your ticket fee being donated to the charity Artists Against Hunger. Don’t miss this special opportunity to catch them live & local.
